Re engage, formerly called Contact the Elderly, aim is to help alleviate loneliness in older people through our free, monthly tea parties. Volunteer hosts provide an afternoon tea once or twice a year and volunteer drivers accompany guests to the tea. Numbers arranged to suit hosts. We do not undertake any caring duties, we are a registered charity but not registered with the Charities Commission.
Teas are held on one Sunday a month from 2.00 until 4.00. The Groups have a Co ordinator who arranges the teas and makes sure guests have a driver.
Brechin was the first Group started some 17 years ago, and we now have Groups in Montrose, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Carnoustie/Monifieth and a new one in Carmylie.  They also have  have the Laurencekirk Groups which cover Edzell right across to St Cyrus and Marykirk. We have approx 230 volunteers and guests in those Groups, with more in the pipeline.
We are always looking for more volunteers so that we can help more lonely older people, and if anyone would like to volunteer, it is all done on line on the Re engage website.
If anyone wants to discuss it they can call me (Jean) on 01356 660238.
If you enjoy tea and cake and lots of laughter, then this is the volunteering opportunity you have been seeking.
